Lobby Day
Preparation
Lobby Day will take place all day on the Monday following the conference.
Lobby day briefings and preparations for all tracks will be part of the conference sessions on Sunday. On your registration you must designate whether or not you will be lobbying on Monday. If you will be part of the lobby visits, Ecumenical Advocacy Days will set up your appointments on your behalf . Further details will follow and specifics will be available at the conference.
Please be sure to enter your Congressional District in the registration form. It will help the Ecumenical Advocacy Days Lobby Day staff schedule your appointment with your Representative.
In advance, find out as much as you can about your Member's voting record on issues related to the conference. You can find this information at the website: http://thomas.loc.gov.
You can locate information about your Congressional Member in the House of Representatives at: http://www.house.gov.
Information about your Senators can be found at: http://www.senate.gov.
Conference Activities Related to Lobby Day
At the conference we will help you gather with advocates from the same states and Congressional Districts so you can coordinate meetings with fellow advocates. Plan to use these meetings times partly as a strategy session. Together plan the points you will stress and who will take the lead; agree on how you will present the Ask and how you will use the leave behind materials.
Assume you will have only 10 minutes to make your case, so limit yourselves to 2–3 key points. If you are given more time, you can expand on the topic. We will help you do this.
There will be materials available at the conference plenary sessions about the latest policy developments. There will also be materials that you can leave with Congressional offices when you visit.
