Airports and Ground Transportation
Ronald Reagan Washington International Airport (DCA)
National Airport is approximately 2.5 miles from the Doubletree Hotel. It is easily accessible by taking the free hotel shuttle or other ground transportation options, including a short 2-stop Metro (subway) ride via the Yellow Line in the direction of Fort Totten / Greenbelt or the Blue Line in the direction of Largo Town Center to the Pentagon City Metro. Cost for the Metro trip would be between $3 and $5 total depending on the time of day.
Taxis are also available.
Washington Dulles International Airport (IAD)
Dulles Airport is approximately 26 miles from the Doubletree Hotel. There is not a hotel shuttle from Dulles so you will need to make alternate transportation arrangements. IAD taxis can cost upwards of $50 from Dulles Airport. Two of the least expensive modes of transportation from Dulles are the Super Shuttle (a cost between $30 and $40) and bus service to the Metro.
To take the Metro you will need to buy a ticket (one-way or round-trip) at the Washington Flyer Coach ticket counter located at Arrivals Door #4 in the Main Terminal. You will also board the Coach at this location. The buses depart approximately every 30 minutes but please listen for announcements for exact bus departure times. The bus will take you to the West Falls Church Metro station. Take the Orange line train bound for New Carrollton and transfer trains at L’Enfant Plaza. Board the Yellow line train bound for Huntington and get off at Pentagon City. You can catch the hotel shuttle at the Pentagon City Metro Station. Total cost for travel via coach and metro would be between $15 and $20.
Baltimore/Washington Thurgood Marshall International Airport (BWI)
BWI Airport is approximately 36 miles from the Doubletree Hotel. There is not a hotel shuttle so you will need to make alternate transportation arrangements.
One of the least expensive ways to travel from BWI Airport is to take the MARC train run by the Maryland Transit Administration. You can take the free shuttle to the BWI Rail Station, take the MARC train to Union Station and then take the Metro Red Line bound for Shady Grove or Grosvenor, transfer trains at Gallery Place Chinatown, from there board the Yellow Line to Huntington and exit at the Pentagon City Metro Station, then take the free hotel shuttle. Total cost for this trip would be between $10 and $15 depending on time of day.
An alternative is to board the WMATA (Metro) B30 bus outside of Door #1 on the ground floor of BWI bound for Greenbelt Metro Station. This half-hour bus ride (which requires exact change) will allow you to board the Green Line Metro in the direction of Branch Ave or a Yellow Line Train in the direction of Huntington (Yellow Line trains run to Greenbelt only during rush hour). You can take the Green Line train to Fort Totten station and transfer to a Yellow Line at non-rush hours and then take the Yellow Line in the direction of Huntington. Exit the Yellow Line train at Pentagon City and take the free shuttle to the hotel. Total cost for this trip would be between $10 and $15 depending on the time of day.
Taxis are available but not recommended for this long trip.
Other Ground Transportation Options
Union Station in downtown Washington, DC is the closest Amtrak station to the Doubletree Hotel. There are a few options for ground transportation from Union Station. Taxis are available at the front entrance of Union Station. Metro access is also available on the lower level of Union Station. take the Metro Red Line bound for Shady Grove or Grosvenor, transfer trains at Gallery Place Chinatown, from there board the Yellow Line to Huntington and exit at the Pentagon City Metro Station, then take the free hotel shuttle.
