PHOTOS: Scenes From EAD 2014 – Sunday

March 24, 2014

The National Gathering portion of Ecumenical Advocacy Days event “Jesus Weeps: Resisting Violence, Building Peace” wrapped on the evening of Sunday, March 23 with a dinner and celebration featuring Rev. Jim Wallis, a video message from Congresswoman Sheila Jackson-Lee, music from the Glocal Musicians, and calls to action in preparation for lobbying on Capitol Hill on Monday, March 24, 2014. Also highlighted at the evening event were a local Washington, D.C.-based organization – Little Friends for Peace – which provides nonviolence educational opportunities for children and teens and the work of a teenage girl in planning and implementing the effort at this year’s gathering to craft peace cranes to be delivered to Capitol Hill by advocates participating in lobby day. Over 500 cranes were blessed in preparation for that effort.

This gallery also includes images from the days earlier Interdenominational Worship featured Jim Winkler, General Secretary of the National Council of Churches, and Sunday Morning’s plenary featuring national and international models of efforts to combat situations of violence and exploitation around the world.
