EAD 2014 Lobby Day to Focus on Gun Violence and Out-sized Military Spending

March 12, 2014

March 12, 2014 – WASHINGTON – Ecumenical Advocacy Days for Global Peace with Justice (EAD) announced today its 2014 Congressional “Ask” that nearly 1,000 Christian advocates will take to Capitol Hill for meetings with their members of Congress. As part of its 2014 national gathering titled, “Jesus Weeps: Resisting Violence, Building Peace,” EAD participants will make Capitol Hill visits on a coordinated Lobby Day on Monday, March 24, 2014.

Specifically, the “Ask” reads

Our Nation can and must do more to nurture a culture of peace. We call for U.S. policies that:

  • Reduce acquisition and use of guns for purposes that cause harm;
  • Rebalance funding priorities away from out-sized military spending to focus more resources on preventing violence and enhancing human security.
