Bishop Reuel Marigza

General Secretary, National Council of Churches in the Philippines

Bishop Reuel Norman O. Marigza was elected as the General Secretary of the National Council of Churches in the Philippines (NCCP) in November 2019. Living out the prophetic calling in his defense of human rights and civil liberties, Bp. Marigza has provided strong leadership to NCCP and its human rights work. His vocal criticism of the many human rights violations in the Philippines has led to incidents of online vilification/”red-tagging.” Prior to his election as General Secretary of NCCP, Bp. Marigza served two terms as General Secretary of the United Church of Christ in the Philippines (UCCP).
