Monique C. Nunes serves as an administrator at Baltimore Lutheran School (grades 6-12) in Towson, Md. A native of Chicago, Monique holds a Bachelor of Arts from Concordia University, Ann Arbor, Mich. and a Master of Arts from Webster University, St. Louis. A former collegiate athlete, she holds track records in hurdle sprints at Concordia University Nebraska.
In addition to having served as a principal for Lutheran schools in Chicago and Baltimore, and as a public school elementary educator in Dallas and Detroit, Monique is an accomplished singer and church leader. She has taught for Bible Study Fellowship and has led many workshops on topics of family life and women’s empowerment, inspired by her favorite Bible verse: “‘For I know the plans I have for you,’ declares the Lord, ‘plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you a hope and a future.” (Jeremiah 29:11).
Monique is married to John Nunes, president and CEO of Lutheran World Relief. They co-authored the children’s book Little Things Make Big Differences: A Story about Malaria, in support of the Lutheran Malaria Initiative. Monique and John live in Baltimore with their son John, Jr., the youngest of their five children.
