Dr. Anne Nelson

Research Scholar, Columbia University

Dr. Anne Nelson is the author of Shadow Network: Media, Money, and the Secret Hub of the Radical Right, which provided extensive research for the new documentary, Bad Faith. She is a Research Scholar at Columbia University’s Saltzman Institute for War and Peace Studies at the School of International and Public Affairs. Her other books include Red Orchestra: The Berlin Underground and the Circle of Friends Who Resisted Hitler, and Suzanne’s Children: A Daring Rescue in Nazi Paris. Her play The Guys, dealing with the aftermath of the 9/11 attacks, has been performed in all 50 states and 15 countries, and became a feature film starring Sigourney Weaver. Nelson won the Associated Church Press award for reporting on the conflicts in Central America, as well as the Livingston Award and a Guggenheim Fellowship. She grew up in the United Methodist Church and currently serves on the editorial board of the Episcopal New Yorker. She is a graduate of Yale University and a member of the Council on Foreign Relations. She will be speaking at the EAD 2024 Spring Summit Spotlight Session on Christian nationalism.
